Port Hardy Whale watching on the North coast is fantastic from late June to the end of September. The Cape Scott Water Taxi provides a whale and nature tour that departs from the Quarterdeck Marina. Mackay’s Whale Watching and Stubbs Island Whale Watching Tours are only a short drive from Port Hardy. Both companies provide the experience of a lifetime viewing Orca and Humpback whales in their natural environment. Sea lions, Dolphins and Porpoises as well as many different species of birds will complete this memorable day before your return to the comfort and hospitality of the Orange Tabby Bed & Breakfast.

Port Hardy and the surrounding North Island have North America’s densest population of Black Bears. Spotting Black Bears in many various locations is easy from early spring until late fall. Bear Watching Tours are available with our local naturalist Larry Woodall who has 35 years experience. Larry will ensure you have an exciting day and the Orange Tabby Bed & Breakfast will ensure a restful night.

Port Hardy Sport Fishing Charters include fishing for Halibut, Salmon and many species of Cod. Leisure Suit Charters offers a fully guided experience with packages available to fish anywhere off of the North Island. After a successful day on the Pacific Ocean, assistance with processing your catch is available at Hardy Buoys Smoked Fish. If you bring your own boat, we have ample parking right here at the Orange Tabby Bed & Breakfast.

Kayaking Tours: The waters surrounding the North Island provide a venue for kayakers from beginner to expert. Complete kayak tour packages both guided and independent are available through Odyssey Kayaking. You will have everything you need to be safe and well equipped for your day on the water. We will assist you with dinner reservations upon your return.

Deep Sea Diving in the area is unsurpassed by anywhere else on Earth. Your hosts at the Orange Tabby B&B will be happy to suggest one of several diving operations who can supply you with all necessary gear.

Our Temperate Rain Forest region offers Hiking for all levels of ability. Among those trails are the challenging World Famous Cape Scott Park Trail and the newly opened North Coast Trail, as well as the shorter day trip to San Josef Bay. There is no shortage of Beaches to explore. Whether you want to go down to the end of the street or further afield you will find an assortment of sea life on one of our many local beaches.
